When a couple seeking a divorce in Kentucky have had children together, they will need to reach a settlement in regards to child custody arrangements. Often, both parties are required to compromise to reach a solution that is in the best interest of their children, but beneficial to each other as well. Unfortunately, there are times when couples are unable to resolve their disagreements amicably which can put the well-being and safety of their children in danger.
This is exactly what happened in a recent child custody exchange in Texas that turned violent. Local authorities were summoned to assist with a child custody exchange that was supposed to take place in a San Antonio neighborhood. While en route, officers were notified that a shooting had occurred. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a woman lying on the front steps. She was deceased and her wounds appeared to have been caused by a gunshot. They also noticed that the couple's 18-month-old son was missing. When the woman's ex was later found, his young son was recovered from the backseat of his truck and appeared to be unharmed. The man was gravely injured. According to investigators, multiple calls had previously been made from the home for various domestic violence-related incidents.
If couples are dealing with strife as they work to establish a child custody arrangement, they may wish to enlist a professional attorney to guide them through the process. This may provide the couple with direction in determining an agreement that is structurally sound and provides all participants with a rewarding outcome.
